Description: The painting “A Moth’s Flap of Wings” has own history, which reflects the reality of our time. The period of its creation: February-April 2022. The fighting in Ukraine keeps me on my toes. I am pouring out my emotion- the red paint lays on the canvas-as a symbol of the fire of weapons and spilled blood.
Confession.
Arrests of people in Russia who oppose the war make adjustments to the creative process. And, as a consequence, I try to hide the “blood trail” in the history of the Ukrainian and Russian peoples. I paint over the red paint with lines- light and transparent. In the way, I disguise my protest against the war in order to avoid persecution and punishment. Bottom line: present to the public a painting with the unpretentious title “A Flap of the Moth’s Wings”.
The story of the painting’s creation is a vivid example and reflection of the reality of our days. We remain silent when we are asked to participate, thereby showing indifference to the grief of people where war is going on. Indifference is not charity, because it is easier to live with. It is easier to be a moth than to boldly declare ourselves.
