FELIPE CASTANEDA
FELIPE CASTANEDA
Felipe Castaneda was born in La Palma, Michoacán México, in 1933. From 1958 to 1963 he studied in the school of Arts La Esmeralda in Mexico City. He has had exhibitions in Mexico, United States and Canada. Felipe Castaneda creates sculptures in translucent marble, in magnanimously veined onyx and of incredible chromatics and goes on to effect the miracle of sinuousness in primitive clay.
Felipe Castaneda is a great artist, a sculptor of forms enriching historical content precisely by contact with those universal fibers where his style and emotion rise to aesthetic amazement and mystery.
Felipe Castaneda art, eminently figurative does not only retake the immediate tradition, the example of the Mexican sculpture of the last decades, but continues with in a very personal way of discovering the emotion by the subtle handling of volumes.
The favorite theme, the woman, is for Felipe, the most beautiful elongation of nature. The enigmatic visages of those women, the harmonious lines by which they have been structured, the rhythm imposed to the composition have a lot to do with the life the surrounds us. They are the testimony of an artist who believes in the existence of a real world and who expresses in those images, a deep sense of beauty.
