KEN KEELEY
Ken Keeley
Ken Keeley (New York, 1946) is an artist known for capturing some of the most emblematic places in the city of New York, including Times Square, Brooklyn, Trump Tower, Radio City and his famous scenes from newsstands and candy stores.
Although his work can be considered photo-realistic, Keeley´s goal is not a simple and faithful translation of these images as they are subject to an aesthetic reconstruction whereby he adds a special atmosphere through the light, colors and lines that clearly differentiates his work from the actual image.
Keeley works cannot produce enough to meet demand because unlike other artists, he does it all in his studio without assistants or any other process that can accelerate production. So his work implies a significant pre-production work and meticulous work of giving expression to the image.
