Amram Ebgi (1939 – 2024) Born in 1939 in Fez, Morocco, was an Israeli-American printmaker, painter, and sculptor whose work is deeply rooted in Jewish heritage and symbolism. He immigrated to Israel early in life, where his formative years shaped a lasting connection to Jewish tradition, community, and visual storytelling. At the age of 30, Ebgi traveled to New York City on a scholarship from the Brooklyn Museum of Art and studied printmaking at the Pratt Institute, an experience that refined his mastery of etching and other traditional printmaking techniques. His work is distinguished by intricate detail, vibrant color, and richly symbolic imagery that brings beloved elements of Jewish history, spirituality, and culture to life. Throughout his career, Ebgi exhibited widely in the United States and Israel. His works are held in the permanent collections of the Yale University Art Gallery, Princeton University, and UCLA, and he was commissioned by UNICEF, reflecting the broad cultural reach of his art. Amram Ebgi passed away on June 21, 2024, leaving behind a lasting artistic legacy celebrated for its craftsmanship, warmth, and enduring spiritual resonance.
