Brusk (born 1976 in Saint-Étienne, France) is a contemporary French artist known for his dynamic fusion of graffiti, fine art, and multimedia practices. Emerging from the street art scene in the early 1990s, he quickly developed a distinctive visual language that blends urban culture with formal artistic training.
BRUSK develops his creativity from an early age. A pencil in hand, he spends his time scribbling until he meets graffiti and Hip Hop in 1991. Graduate of the school of fine arts in Saint Etienne, his extensive work on graffiti becomes a case completely atypical for the faculty.
He tames new techniques and approaches different mediums (photo, video, computer), pushing his limits and opening new creative worlds. The mastery of many tools allows him to work as well in figurative, abstraction, realism or clean graphics. BRUSK develops its approach on various supports, it is often brought to expose his work and to invest unusual places.
Over time, his style has evolved into a striking combination of calligraphic gestures, 3D effects, characters, and carefully constructed staging. The balance of his compositions is based on a subtle interplay of space, voids, accumulations, materials, and layered planes. He achieves an alchemy between influences born of photography, cinema, and his sharp ability to capture and reinterpret urban aesthetics.
