A painter, sculptor and set designer, Hoppe (American, 1943–1989) received a Desi Award in graphic design and an Emmy for scenic design. His glamorous Art Deco cityscapes of Hollywood and New York were popularized in recent years by Mirage Editions, which published limited editions of his prints and posters. His work included advertising posters for movies such as "A Chorus Line" and sets for ballet and dance companies.
