MICHAEL CYWINK
Born in Manitoulin Island, Ontario, where he currently lives and is the First Nations Curator and Cultural Arts Educator on the Reserve. In 2010 he received the Aboriginal Teachers Certificate Program at the Nipissing University for Art Education and in 1993 a Degree in Museum Studies and Fine Arts at the Institute of American Indian Arts. Michael is actively involved in community development and has worked for the Ojibwe Cultural Foundation as a Curator and with the “Aboriginal Artist in the Schools” with the Ontario Arts Council. He paints murals through his “Cultural Appreciation From a First Nation Perspective”. He is a member of the Aboriginal Curatorial Collective (ACC) Canada; of the Aboriginal Arts Administrators (AAA) Canada; of the Métis Artist Collective (MAC) Canada, and of the Association for Native Development in the Performing and Visual Arts (ANDPVA).
