Phil Frost is a contemporary American painter and installation artist with roots in the graffiti movement. Brightly colored letter forms and masks cover his anarchic surfaces. “My work is a continuum,” Frost has said. “It is created with gestural movement and daily inflections picked up along the way. I make use of my environment like this and log passage.” Born in 1973 in Jamestown, NY, he is a self-taught artist who uses a variety of mediums, including ink, spray paint, oils, and gouache. In 2016, the snowboard company Burton released a special series of apparel and equipment, designed with graphics by Frost. He currently lives and works in New York, NY.
