PETER LIK
Peter Lik is a contemporary Australian landscape photographer. His works are characterized by their panoramic format and imagery of exotic natural environments, often highly saturated through digital manipulation. Lik has achieved widespread commercial success, selling and distributing his work through a series of 15 self-owned galleries located in tourist-heavy areas like Hawaii and Las Vegas. He purportedly once held the title of having taken the most expensive photograph ever sold, a $6.5 million transaction in 2014 for Phantom, a black-and-white photograph of the Antelope Canyon in Arizona. The veracity of this sale, however, has since been called into question and remains unproven. Born in 1959 in Melbourne, Australia, he has received multiple awards for his work, including the Windland Smith Rice International Award from Nature's Best Photography in 2010 and Best Landscape from the American Aperture Awards in 2013.
