With my art, I attempt to approach each painting with a childlike openness. 

The paintings begin in a very structured format, using grids, drawings, pre-cut shapes. Each subsequent layer starts by adding and subtracting new shapes.

The canvas starts to tell me where to go … with vigorous brush strokes, using spatulas, paint tubes, tape, etc., the forms take a life of their own. Each color looks for its complement and appropriate value, all the components trying to create a balance between the mind's desire for structure and the soul's quest to push the limits.

It is my hope that when people view my work, they do not only experience the composition and color, but above all have a feeling of discover and wonderment.
