The work of Beatrice Seiden (American, 1915–2010) is refreshing in it's wholesome simplicity. In Many Paintings the color density varies, ranging from transparent watercolor to opaque, both handled with equal facility. The artist has a tendency to reduce the multiple facets of any given surface to simple planes of color. The color is fresh and inviting. Sometimes it is also surprising, as in the lavender sky in "Seascape with Trees".
